Troubleshooting for the Arcadia MU IGCN Season 21 Windows client. Search the exact message, follow the verified steps in order and contact the team with complete diagnostic information if the issue remains.
Find the exact message
Search the words shown by Windows, the launcher or the game. Partial searches such as “VCRUNTIME” or “greyed out” also work.
Follow every step
Use the complete official client and always start it through the Arcadia launcher—not by opening main.exe directly. Restart when requested and avoid mixing files from other MU clients.
Contact us before leaving
If the issue remains, send a screenshot and the requested diagnostic information. Staff can help much faster with complete details.

Solutions Library
Search using the words you see or describe what happens. You do not need to know the technical cause.
Most common Arcadia cause
In many cases the graphics adapter is disabled, using a generic Windows driver, or its driver is damaged. However, this message is generic and can also appear when client files are missing.
Recommended steps
- Restart Windows and try the launcher once more.
- Open Device Manager → Display adapters. Confirm that the GPU is enabled, has no warning symbol and is not listed only as Microsoft Basic Display Adapter.
- Install the current stable driver from NVIDIA, AMD, Intel or the laptop manufacturer for the exact GPU model, then restart Windows.
- On laptops, set both the Arcadia launcher and game executable to the High performance GPU in Windows Graphics settings.
- Check antivirus Protection History or quarantine for Arcadia files, then run the launcher verification.
- If it still fails, install a fresh official client into a new local folder such as
C:\Games\ArcadiaMU.
Most common Arcadia cause
main.exe was removed or quarantined, the client was moved incompletely, or the launcher and game files no longer belong to the same complete Arcadia installation.
Recommended steps
- Close every Arcadia and main.exe process from Task Manager.
- Do not open main.exe directly. Start Arcadia only through its official launcher; IGC.Launcher can be configured to allow main.exe to run only through the launcher.
- Check Windows Security Protection History or your antivirus quarantine for main.exe, IGC.dll, the launcher or another Arcadia file.
- Restore a file only after confirming that it belongs to the official Arcadia client.
- Keep the launcher and the complete client together. Do not copy only main.exe, IGC.dll or DLL files from another MU installation.
- Run the official launcher so it can update and verify the client.
- If the error remains, extract or install a fresh official client into a new local folder such as
C:\Games\ArcadiaMUand use the new launcher shortcut.
Likely causes
The manufacturer’s GPU driver is missing, the game is using the wrong GPU, or the available adapter does not expose the required OpenGL version.
Recommended steps
- Open Device Manager → Display adapters. If you see Microsoft Basic Display Adapter, install the correct manufacturer driver.
- Install pending Windows updates, then install the current stable GPU driver and restart.
- On laptops, assign both Arcadia executables to the dedicated or High performance GPU.
- Do not run the game through Remote Desktop, a virtual machine or cloud PC while testing.
- If the GPU is very old and no supported manufacturer driver exists, the hardware may not meet the client requirement.
Recommended steps
- Download and install or repair the latest supported Microsoft Visual C++ v14 Redistributable x86.
- Install x86 even on 64-bit Windows when the affected game component is 32-bit.
- If the launcher or another component is 64-bit, or the error remains, also install the x64 package.
- Restart Windows and run the Arcadia launcher again.

Recommended steps
- Do not run the launcher from inside a ZIP or RAR archive. Extract the complete Arcadia client first.
- Restart Windows and try the official Arcadia launcher again.
- Open Turn Windows features on or off and enable .NET Framework 3.5 when it is unavailable.
- Install or repair Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8 and install pending Windows updates.
- Confirm that Windows date, time and time zone are correct, because an incorrect clock can prevent secure launcher connections.
- Check antivirus quarantine for the launcher or one of its files.
- If it still closes, install a fresh official client into a new local folder and send support your Windows version plus the exact Application Error shown in Windows Event Viewer.

Recommended steps
- Close the game.
- Open the official Arcadia game folder and locate ARIALUNI.TTF.
- Right-click it and choose Install for all users. If that option is not shown, open the font and select Install.
- Launch the game again. Restart Windows only if the text is still incorrect.
Recommended steps
- Take a screenshot of the complete warning, including every code, file or process name displayed.
- Close the game and launcher, then end any remaining main.exe process in Task Manager.
- Remove files copied from another MU client and undo manual changes to Arcadia executables or DLL files.
- Start the official Arcadia launcher and allow it to update or verify the client. IGC.Launcher includes file replacement prevention and can close a modified client.
- If the warning explicitly names an external program, close that specific overlay, injector, macro application or debugger and test again.
- If no external process is named or the warning remains, install a clean official client into a new folder instead of copying files over the damaged client.
Recommended checks
- Confirm that the download came directly from the official Arcadia website.
- Right-click the file → Properties and check the publisher or Digital Signatures tab when available.
- Compare the file’s SHA-256 checksum with the checksum published by Arcadia when one is provided.
- If Windows Security shows a named threat such as a Trojan or PUA, stop and follow the antivirus detection solution below instead.
- If the source, signature or checksum cannot be verified, do not run the file; contact Arcadia Support.
Recommended steps
- Do not disable the antivirus. Record the exact threat name, affected file and file path.
- Confirm that the download came directly from Arcadia’s official Downloads page.
- Verify the digital signature or published SHA-256 checksum when available.
- If the hash differs, the source is unofficial or the file cannot be verified, delete it and download a fresh official copy.
- Restore or allow the file only after Arcadia Support confirms that the exact official release is being detected.
- When an exclusion is necessary, exclude only the dedicated Arcadia folder and run the launcher verification afterward.
Recommended steps
- Check antivirus quarantine for IGC.dll, main.exe or other Arcadia files, then run launcher verification.
- Disable any VPN or proxy while testing.
- Install or repair Microsoft Visual C++ 2015–2022 x86. Also repair .NET Framework if the launcher itself is failing.
- Update the GPU driver and assign Arcadia to the High performance GPU on laptops.
- Install a fresh official client into a new local folder outside Program Files, Desktop and OneDrive-synced folders.
- If the problem affects only one account or character, state that clearly in the ticket because the cause may be server-side rather than the computer.
Recommended steps
- Check Arcadia’s official status or announcements for maintenance before changing the computer.
- Confirm that Windows date, time and time zone are set automatically.
- Make sure the drive has free space and the Arcadia folder is not read-only.
- If the game is inside Program Files, Desktop or OneDrive, reinstall it into
C:\Games\ArcadiaMU. - Allow the official Arcadia launcher as an application through Windows Firewall. Players should not open broad inbound ports manually.
- Disable VPN or proxy software and test once using another network or a mobile hotspot.
- If another network works, include the original ISP, country and exact launcher error in the ticket.
Recommended steps
- Wait for the launcher status and progress check to finish, then restart it once.
- Check Arcadia’s official status or announcements for maintenance.
- Confirm that the Arcadia website opens on the same computer and that Windows date and time are correct.
- Allow the launcher and game executable through Windows Firewall as applications.
- Disable VPN or proxy software while testing.
- Test another network or mobile hotspot. If that works, the original ISP, DNS or route is likely involved.
- If the launcher is installed in a protected folder and cannot update, move to a new local game folder instead of running it permanently as administrator.
Recommended steps
- Press Alt + Enter once to switch between fullscreen and windowed mode.
- Press Windows + Ctrl + Shift + B to reset the graphics driver, then restart the game.
- Close nonessential overlays, FPS counters and screen filters.
- Update the GPU driver. If the issue began immediately after a driver update, test the previous stable driver instead.
- On laptops, select the High performance GPU for Arcadia.
- Run Windows’ Program Compatibility Troubleshooter if the issue occurs only on a newer Windows version.
Network & Connection
When only one player lags or disconnects, use these tests to separate a home-network problem from an ISP or routing problem.
Recommended steps
- Close downloads, torrents, streaming, Windows updates, cloud synchronization and other programs using the Internet.
- Use an Ethernet cable whenever possible. A stable connection is more important than a high advertised speed.
- If Wi-Fi is required, use the 5 GHz network, move closer to the router and avoid repeaters while testing.
- Restart Windows, then disconnect the router from power for at least 30 seconds and reconnect it.
- Temporarily disable any VPN, proxy or game accelerator and test the direct connection first.
- Check whether Discord, voice chat or other applications also freeze at the same moment.
Test another network
- Connect the computer temporarily through a mobile hotspot and play long enough to reproduce the usual problem.
- If the hotspot is stable, the normal router, Wi-Fi, ISP or route is involved.
- If Ethernet works but Wi-Fi fails, troubleshoot the wireless connection instead of reinstalling Arcadia.
- If both the normal connection and hotspot fail, review Windows, antivirus, the network adapter and the Arcadia client.
- If several affected players use the same ISP or live in the same region, report that pattern to Arcadia Support.
Recommended steps
- Confirm first that Arcadia works better through a mobile hotspot or another Internet provider.
- Test only an Arcadia-approved proxy, tunnel, VPN or alternative route.
- Choose the geographically closest stable route and compare ping, movement delay and disconnections with the direct connection.
- Do not run two VPNs, proxies or game accelerators simultaneously.
- Do not enter your Arcadia password into any routing application.
- If the alternative route is worse, disable it and return to the direct connection.
Recommended steps
- Close Arcadia, the launcher and other applications.
- Open Command Prompt as administrator.
- Run these commands one at a time:
netsh winsock reset netsh int ip reset ipconfig /flushdns
- Restart Windows manually and test Arcadia without a VPN or proxy first.
- If the problem remains, update or reinstall the Ethernet/Wi-Fi adapter driver from the computer or motherboard manufacturer.
- Use Windows Network reset only as a final measure because it removes and reinstalls network adapters and may require VPN software to be configured again.
